Frequently Asked (and Answered!) Questions

Do you offer Virtual Therapy?

Yes! I offer secure virtual sessions on weekdays and evenings, so you can meet from the comfort of your home. It’s ideal for clients who value flexibility, privacy, and ease. I also offer in-person sessions two days a week in Farmersville, Texas, inside a cozy office space near the square. I see Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy clients on Sundays

The first session is about getting to know you – what’s bringing you in, what you’re hoping for, and what you need to feel safe. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. We’ll go at your pace.

We’ll start with a complimentary 30-minute consultation to discuss your needs and determine if it’s a good fit. If it’s not the right match, I’ll gladly help you find someone who is.

When it comes to mental health I believe it’s important to have options. I currently have two choices for your therapy journey:

  1. I am a contract therapist with AltNarratives, where I am available for self-pay while also offering limited sliding scale spots.
  2. I also see clients through my own private practice, Rootbound to Bloom, PLLC, where I see clients through self-pay with sliding scale options.

Through the client portal, you will have access to a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. Please note that Superbills cannot be provided for no-shows or late cancellations.

If you plan to use out-of-network benefits, the following questions may help you understand how your insurance company handles Superbills and reimbursements:

  • Does my health insurance plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met so far?

  • Once my deductible is met, what percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed?

  • My provider charges $175.00 per session. How much would I be reimbursed for each session?

  • How do I submit a Superbill?

  • How long does it typically take for a reimbursement claim to be processed, and how will I receive payment?

In certain cases, insurance companies may offer an Out-of-Network Request, which allows clients to receive in-network reimbursement rates for services provided by an out-of-network clinician. These agreements are typically considered when no in-network providers are available who specialize in the client’s specific needs or location, or when a client has been receiving care from a trusted provider and wishes to continue services for clinical reasons. If your insurance company offers this option, I am happy to provide the necessary documentation to support your request.

Here are some questions you can pose to your insurance provider to see if this option is available to you:

  • Does my insurance plan offer an Out-of-Network Request that would allow me to receive in-network reimbursement for services with an out-of-network provider?

  • What criteria must be met to qualify for this type of agreement, and what documentation is required from my provider to support this request?

No horse experience needed! Equine-assisted psychotherapy involves ground-based activities with horses to support emotional insight, regulation, and healing. It’s experiential, body-based, and often less focused on talking. Learn more here!

Absolutely. My practice is affirming of all identities, including LGBTQ+ clients, chosen families, and nontraditional partnerships. You are safe and welcome here.

That’s more common than people realize. My approach is relational, somatic, and deeply personalized – therapy can feel different when you’re truly supported. Many of my clients report feeling “seen” for the first time in our sessions together.

Yourself is more than enough! If you’d like to take notes, feel free to bring a pen and notepad. Love a fidget toy? Bring it with you! Snacks and drinks are welcome in sessions as well.

In Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, you must wear closed-toed shoes for your safety. Be prepared to get a little dirty as well, and a water bottle is always advised.

It depends on your goals, history, and preferences. Some clients stay for a few months, others for longer. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is supporting you in the ways that matter.

“I’ve never had a therapist I’ve felt like I could talk to so easily before.”

“You went straight for the root of the problem, where I feel like the therapy I’ve had before was just putting band-aids on everything.”

“This has taught me more than any of my inpatient treatment work has.”

“I thought I was truly broken until I realized I was just tired of holding it all together.”
