Lead with Confidence: A Teen Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy Intensive

This small-group intensive combines the power of horses with therapeutic support to help teens build confidence, emotional awareness, communication skills, and leadership.

Through guided, ground-based activities, teens learn how their emotions, body language, and mindset influence the world around them – all in a safe, structured environment.

About the Facilitator

Amara Yachimski, LPC-Associate, NCC

This program is facilitated by Amara Yachimski, a licensed professional counselor associate specializing in trauma-informed, experiential approaches to therapy. Amara integrates equine-assisted work to support emotional growth, self-regulation, and resilience in adolescents. Amara is supervised by Kathryn Leachman, LPC-S, NCC.

Amara has been around horses for 25 years, and currently owns a mustang named Raven. An avid horseman, Amara teaches horseback riding lessons on the side and is knowledgeable about English and Western disciplines, Natural Horsemanship, and Liberty work. Amara also completed their internship with STEPS with Horses, a non-profit based outside of Fort Worth that provides counseling for veterans and their families.

Format: Ground-based only (no riding)
Investment: $450 – $150 Deposit Required to secure spot

Spots are limited and filled on a first-come basis

This is not a riding camp.

All activities are conducted on the ground and are facilitated by a licensed mental health counselor. Exercises may include:

  • guided leading challenges,
  • boundary and body-language work,
  • obstacle navigation,
  • team problem-solving tasks, and
  • reflective group discussions.

Each activity is facilitated to help teens connect their experiences with the horses to real-life situations in a safe, supportive setting.

Group size is intentionally limited to 6 participants to ensure safety and meaningful engagement.
